Hamilton HIVE is the city’s premiere Young Professional organization. We are completely volunteer driven and work year round to make the Hamilton a better place for YP’s. The friendships, opportunities, and experience you can gain as a part of HIVE are remarkable. If you have ever considered taking on something new and challenging yourself to grow please consider joining one of our volunteer committees! HIVEX CONFERENCE COMMITTEE
The HIVEX Conference committee is responsible for the planning and execution of one of the largest conferences for emerging leaders and young professionals in the Golden Horseshoe area. The annual full day event allows attendees to participate in professional development workshops, listen to engaging keynotes from experts in various industries, and network with like-minded students and professionals from Hamilton and the surrounding area.
Committee Duties and Responsibilities:
The committee runs from February to November. No event planning experience required, just enthusiasm and passion for empowering emerging leaders in the City of Hamilton.

Public Relations Committee
The Public Relations (PR) Committee is the public voice of Hamilton HIVE. Our main objective is to create awareness and build the profile of HIVE among young professionals, the general public, and media outlets in Hamilton.
The committee is responsible for creating and pitching content, writing blog articles, and overall increasing the brand awareness and importance of the Hamilton HIVE.
We are looking for individuals with experience in:
The committee runs from February to December and will meet once a month. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: attending 1 meeting per month; and generating content related to HIVE, the HIVEX conference and the young professional scene in Hamilton.

Sponsorship and Stewardship COMMITTEE
The Sponsorship and Stewardship committee’s main goal is to search for and secure funding and sponsors from various businesses and organizations within the city. It is also responsible for maintaining and nurturing relationships with said sponsors. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Attending monthly meetings
Prior experience with fundraising, sponsorship and/or event planning is an asset but not required.
Chair: Harin Dalal
Victoria is thrilled to be co-chairing the HIVEX Conference Committee for 2017! A Hamiltonian for the past seven years, Victoria has just fallen in love with this city and all that it has to offer. She is excited to bring her experience in project management to hosting another great event for young professionals in Hamilton. Victoria has a B.Sc. in Kinesiology and an MBA from the McMaster DeGroote School of Business which she combined to start her career in healthcare business. In her spare time, you can find her on the soccer pitch or performing car karaoke sessions on the 403.
A Hamilton native, Sarah completed both her Honours Bachelor of Science Kinesiology and her MBA at McMaster University. Since beginning her career in the healthcare industry, she has led dynamic projects across multiple healthcare organizations.
With a passion for social innovation and entrepreneurship, Sarah has volunteered with a number of local organizations and has also led sustainable travel and volunteer initiatives abroad. Currently, she sits on the Board of Directors of Volunteer Hamilton, serving as Secretary and Chair of the Hamilton Community Builder Awards Committee, and volunteers at 541 Eatery & Exchange. You can find her running or biking one of Hamilton’s many trails or trying the newest restaurant/cafe.
Sarah was a member of the HIVEX 2016 committee and is excited to build on the success of last year’s event as co-chair of the HIVEX 2017 committee.
Cassandra is an Account Coordinator at Jan Kelley, managing marketing campaigns from inception to execution on key clients such as Petro-Canada and ROXUL Inc. A recent graduate from McMaster University, Cassandra earned her B.A. with Combined Honours in Communications and Multimedia (CSMM). A rewarding highlight of her studies was the opportunity to create a documentary for her Multimedia thesis, profiling Hamilton Youth Poets and the slam culture in Hamilton. Also in her final year, Cassandra held the position as President of the CSMM department’s student society.
Cassandra loves pretending to be a food blogger as an excuse to try new restaurants and enjoys exchanging Twitter handles with fellow young professionals at networking events. Born and raised in this city, this proud Hamiltonian brings an undeniable passion to her role with Hamilton HIVE.
Toni Shelton is the Communications Manager at Collective Arts Brewing. She has a diploma in Public Relations from Mohawk College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Media, Information and Technoculture from Western University. When she’s not working, tweeting, or drinking craft beer, you can find her indulging at one of Hamilton’s amazing coffee shops or restaurants. She sits on the CPRS (Canadian Public Relations Society) Hamilton board, and is eager to expand her knowledge through Hamilton’s many opportunities for young professionals. Although she is not originally from Hamilton, she is an avid supporter and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
Harin Dalal has called Hamilton home since 2013. He came to Brantford to study Health Wellness and Fitness at Mohawk College before completing his degree in Physiotherapy from India. Since arriving as a newcomer, at Mohawk, in 2011, he was involved in numerous events supporting his peers and student services as a student and has worked in various roles as an assistant professor, liaison officer, admin assistant, research assistant and as a supervisor. Since graduation in 2014, Harin continues to volunteer in various organizations like Global Hamilton Connect, Mental Health in Motion & Mohawk Alumni and has been an active contributor at Mohawk and Hamilton community.
Last year, Harin started his honorary position as a Director with Mohawk Alumni Advisory Council celebrating Mohawk’s 50th Anniversary.
